The tale of 2 sisters

5 years ago I got a phone call at 11 pm. I looked at my called ID and ti was from Brazil. I knew what late phone calls from home meant, but I was not ready to hear what my dad told me crying. My baby sister and the young age of 22 had just become a widow. Her young, handsome, loving husband of 10 month, the first love of her life had tragically died in a motorcycle accident. To make matters worse my mother was here with me. I could hear her screaming in the background, my heart broken in a million tiny pieces for her. I felt numb, powerless. I decided not to tell my mom until the morning. I wanted her to have one last normal night of sleep before she realized that her baby daughter was facing the unthinkable miles and miles way. I arranged flights for both of us , called family members to go and help my poor dad all alone with my sister. The first time I saw my sister when I got home whas something i will never forget. Her pain was so evident, so overwhelming , so raw. I spend days taking care of her. She grieved in a way I had never seem before. She let herself go, she became delirious with pain, coming in and out of conscious, calling his name, bagging him to come back. Her fragile body and heart just could not take it. After a few weeks there I had to come back and left my sister there at the care of my parents. On my way home I cried hurting for her, felling so guilty that I had a husband to come back to and she didn't. For the longest time I could not bare the thought that I had my husband with me and she didn't. It was so unfair. We spoke often, her recovery was not easy, I felt powerless being so far way. Time passed and she seemed like herself again, even though she was forever changed, she was finding a way to be happy again. Love knocked at her door for the second time 2 years later. As she started getting happy again, I feel deep into the abyss called infertility. I got detached, I avoided calling home. I was living my own sadness , grieving the loss of my first pregnancy, lost in the cycles that came and went. She got married again with a great man, a childhood friend. My heart rejoiced for her. I got pregnant one year after. We were both happy again. Than my heart was broken in a million pieces . As she grew closer to her husband and, mine grew apart from me. As her wounds were healing, mine were emerging. She hurted for me, felt bad that she had found love again and I had lost mine... Now , as I walk through this difficult path of healing and new beginnings, my baby sister just gave the greatest joy to let me know that she is expecting her first baby. God willing, next time I go to Brazil in Dec we will be celebrating life, not mourning death. She will meet her niece for the first time and I will touching her growing belly. I am so happy for her. I talked to her, she was giggling with happiness, it took her only one month to get pregnant, even though she has severe SOP (God know how much I prayed for her to be spare of infertility_). She was bubbly like my baby sis that I remember. Like I haven't heard her in 5 years. I am grateful that time healed her pain and hopeful that it will heal mine too.

Time, time, time, time
Time won't leave me as I am

Citizen of the world

Lyla is officially a Brazilian and American Citizen. She will never have to worry about via issues like her mama. She has birth certificate and passport from both countries. I am thankful that my country allows dual citizenship. Now we have all the paperwork in order , I can share with you all that Lyla and I will spend the holidays (Christmas and New years) with my family in Brazil. We got our tickets last week. I am so excited that I can't even think straight. I haven't been home in 5 years. Except for my mom, nobody else in my famil has met Lyla. They are dying to meet her. So, let the countdown begin, in less than 3 months I will be home, where everybody knows my name and they all glad that we are coming!

Wordless Wednesday: Adventurous little girl

8 months:Fell Off from Mommy's bed

At 17 months threw herself out of the crib

Please don;t call child service LOL

Nooooooooooooooooooooo

Last night Lyla decided to wake up in the middle of the night and throw herself out of her crib and dive to the ground face first. I woke up disoriented with a loud noise followed by the loudest scream. She is fine, just some minor bruises on her face. I am still shaking and wondering what I am going to do now since I can trust her in her crib anymore… I SO NOT READY FOR A TODDLER BED!!!!!!!!!

Changes at 17 months

Lyla and I had a great long weekend together. We had lots of fun and that helped me to put those bad feelings aside. She is teething again and let me tell you, Lyla does not do teething gracefully. She has fevers, sleeping through the night is out, not very good appetite and the WORST mood ever. New things are happening at 17 months, she went from being very outgoing and social to shy and "I only want mommy kinda girl". She is crying again when I drop her off at day care. She now wants to be held all the time, even around the house. That must be because she is a little sick but she is 28 pounds and I am cant be carrying her all the time. And if I say NO, that means nothing to her. NO must be a funny word to her. She is like a tornado, all the toys are all over, the house can't never be organized. She is good at entertaining herself at the house, but now when we are at some friend;s house she totally has to be attached to my hips every second. And the worst part are the tantrums. She started this week, throwing herself on the ground in the middle of my friends house , screaming , you get the picture. I hope this is just a phase because I can't stand the whining and tantrums.

She is lucky that she is too cute, and is so loving and smart ... sometimes she is playing and comes and gives me a hug says mama and goes back to her toys. She totally has me wrapped me around her little fingers

I have a feeling

I have a bad feeling, a cold sensation in tummy, like fear... I hate this feeling but I can't shake it off. I have no particular reason (besides the regular old stuff) to feel this way. I hope it goes way soon.

UPDATE

I think that is has to do with the fact that I so tired... I slept 6 hours total in the past 2 days and worked long hours . Lyla has been having some crazy fevers (as high as 105) in the evenings, it goes away during the day but she does not sleep much. Maybe it has to be with the terrible guilty that I felt that I had to send her to daycare anyway. I am feeling better now hoping for some rest in the holiday weekend and some answers when I take Lyla to the Doc today.
