Nooooooooooooooooooooo

Last night Lyla decided to wake up in the middle of the night and throw herself out of her crib and dive to the ground face first. I woke up disoriented with a loud noise followed by the loudest scream. She is fine, just some minor bruises on her face. I am still shaking and wondering what I am going to do now since I can trust her in her crib anymore… I SO NOT READY FOR A TODDLER BED!!!!!!!!!

my daughter did EXACTLY the same thing (only at nap in the afternoon, though). we had to put her in a toddler bed the same day. maybe you could try a crib tent (which is what i wish i had tried). they can be expensive...maybe look at a resale shop or on craigslist before you buy one new. good luck! this is a HARD transition.

I feel so lucky - my girl is almost 3 and has only recently thought about throwing herself over (and then thought the better of it). I wish you luck - maybe lori's crib tent will work for you.

Poor Lyla - I hope she's not hurting from her impromptu faceplant.

I'm so glad that Lyla is all right. Hoping that things go well with the transition. :)

I only made it to 17 months with my boys before we HAD to switch. THere are things you can do to ease the transition for both of you. The most important thing for me was a gate across the bedroom entrance so they couldn't escap..um, I mean leave the room ;)

Also having a bedrail in place was a huge help. It gave them (and me)the security that they couldn't just roll over and fall off. (Fisher Price made a wonderful cloth covered on years ago, they still might).

You will have some trouble getting her to stay in the bed, but we had a rule that if they stayed in bed, and called me when they woke up, they would earn a cookie. My boys loved cookies so this worked for me :)
