i think if i were in your position, having waited soooo long for sleep at night, i would try the crib tent for a while before the toddler bed. i have friends who love it and it can really reassure you about her safety.
it seems like a lot of moms who move little ones into the toddler bed early at Lyla's age get lucky and the kid just stays in the bed as if it were no different from the crib, so you never know, maybe it will be easier than you think. but it seems just from my friends' experiences that happens when the kid is moved before they started trying to climb out of the crib. once they've decided to become an escape artist, they don't seem to give up on getting out to explore.
Awww! Poor thing. I didn't move my daugher into a toddler bed until she was almost 2 1/2. And I still keep a baby gate up so the only room she can get to if she leaves her room is my bedroom.
