Every time I get at daycare Lyla caregiver praises her, tells me how sweet she is, how happy she is ... today was a different story, she was is trouble. She threw a big toy in her little 11 month old friend twice and left a mark on her forehead. She has never done this before, I had to apologise to the little girl's mother. Lyla goes to a home daycare, I love there, I love her caregiver, she is loving , takes great care of her, cooks healthy food, is flexible with time and is affordable. Lyla used to be the youngest but now all the older kids are gone and she is now the oldest. Out of the 5 kids there , 3 are babies , one 11 month old girl and Lyla. Lyla is the only one walking and doigng toddler things. I think she is bored. I am afraid that s time for her to move to a more structured program. I am ot ready for that in many levels. I hope that was an isolated event. Lets see how it goes. I will do whatever is best for her.
The other thing happening with her is that separation anxiety hit her big time. It seems a little late since she has never had problems with separation anxiety before. Sunday at church they had to come and get me because she was crying a lot at the nursery , this has never never happened before. She seems to be attached to my hip lately. I have no problem at day care, she loves her baby sitter. She loves daddy also... but mommy is her person of choice. Is it too late for separation anxiety to hit? she plays independently, she gos to my friends as long as he can see me. She also gets frustrated much easily now, and has big big meltdowns when she is tired. Aside from this, se is happy, busy, curious, loving, smart and CUTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Sorry about these issues.
It's never too late for seperation anxiety...it can hit all the way til kindergarten...
Sometimes giving her a security item (a blanket or stuffed animal) helps.
I had Michael in a family daycare until he was about 2 years old. We had to switch him to a daycare center because she was great with being a cuddler/huggler for when he was younger, but once he was a curious toddler, he needed activities, etc. that she did not provide. We did find a place that was not too expensive, and for Michael, it worked out.
Willow is in a family daycare, and this provider is all into taking the kids out every day to the park and other activies, so I know that Willow is not bored, etc. I will probably keep her in this family daycare until pre-school.
I would just see what this provider does with the kids--does she provide Lyla enough active time, etc. Hopefully she is, and this was an isolated incident.
Hope this helps!
Sounds like Lyal and MT have been talking about toddlerhood. They are doing the same stuff. I consider it all part of the age. I hope hte daycare situation works out
Oh, M has started with the throwing, too. He is in a very structured program and it really is great. I know a lot of people wait until they are a little bit older and you need to do what you are most comfortable with and what you think is good for Lyla. Some kids need the activity and structure that comes with a larger program.
M has also gone in and out of separation anxiety the last few weeks. I think this is an age where it shows up because his teachers said there are a few right around M's age that are struggling with it. Last week was hell when I dropped him off and now this week he is waving bye bye and blowing me kisses before he even leaves my arms.
Never too late for that anxiety- they can have it at 50! You know it is a phase and will get much better with time but for a while she will probably be glued to you! It's so cute though isn't it? Unless you need to poop or something and she's hanging on your leg bawling and you're like 'wtf'
Sorry about the throwing incident but I think this will be one of a BILLION! Again, I think it's a phase that they all go through- some more violent than others & some resulting in more injuries than others!
NO matter what she does, She is just too cute Cibele- TOOOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!!!!
I have heard that kids can go in and out of stages of separation anxiety throughout their toddler years. I hope you figure out what to do with the childcare situation!
